Acupuncture and Dry Needling

Andrew has extensive training in Acupuncture (Chinese and Japanese) and Dry Needling. Acupuncture has been developed over centuries in China. Acupuncture when use correctly can work on modifying the person’s constitution. Traditional Chinese diagnoses and clinical reasoning is needed to determine if a person’s problem is deep or superficial, full or empty, hot or cold, local or due to an overall constitutional imbalance. An example of a full, hot, and constitutional condition might be rheumatoid arthritis. A local empty condition might be tennis elbow.

Using the Chinese system of acupuncture, the needles need to be moved to get a type of heavy sensation, which indicates the body’s attention has been summoned, called “du chi”. Electrical stimulation can produce a similar effect over a sustained period of time for 10-30 minutes. Local treatment is used to stimulate blood flow, nervous activity, reduction of pain or inflammation, and healing. Usually local area treatment is enhanced by using distal points in other parts of the body.
